2025 NFL Power Rankings: Cowboys are Where?

As NFL training camps kick off for the 2025 season, the Philadelphia Eagles hold the top spot after their Super Bowl victory, but the race is tight with strong contenders like the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Kansas City Chiefs close behind. Here’s how all 32 teams stack up heading into the preseason.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles
The reigning champs return with a loaded roster, despite losing key defensive linemen like Josh Sweat and Milton Williams. Additions like Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari, plus first-round pick Jihaad Campbell, keep their defense fierce. Their offense, led by Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, remains a juggernaut. They have the best OLine in the league as well.
  2. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo revamped their defensive line, adding Joey Bosa to replace Von Miller. Josh Allen’s high-volume passing attack, paired with a spread offense, keeps them elite. Their draft and free agency moves signal a push to finally break through.
  3. Detroit Lions
Dan Campbell’s Lions are gritty and talented. Many will point to them losing both their coordinators in offseason as a reason that they may take a step back, but this is arguably a top 3 roster talent-wise in the NFL.
  4. Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson’s Ravens are perennial contenders. Re-signing Ronnie Stanley and adding DeAndre Hopkins in free agency bolster an already strong roster. First-round pick Malaki Starks adds secondary depth. Baltimore’s consistency makes them a Super Bowl threat.
  5. Kansas City Chiefs
Despite a crushing Super Bowl loss, the Chiefs remain dangerous with Patrick Mahomes at the helm. Travis Kelce’s return and Rashee Rice’s recovery from injury boost their offense. Their draft class adds depth, but can they reclaim their crown?
  6. Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels’ stellar rookie year has Washington buzzing. Trades for Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel, plus first-round pick Josh Conerly Jr., make them a rising force. This team’s built for the long haul.
  7. Denver Broncos
Bo Nix turned in a surprisingly stellar rookie season. After a full offseason with head coach Sean Payton, Nix could take a large leap in his second season. The Broncos added first round pick CB Jahdae Barron, LB Dre Greenlaw, and S Talanoa Hufanga to an already stellar defense. Look for rookie WR Pat Bryant to be a potential surprise in 2025.
  8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield’s resurgence keeps Tampa competitive. Their draft added offensive firepower, and their defense remains stout. They’re a sneaky playoff contender in a weak NFC South.
  9. Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love’s growth has Green Bay trending upward. Their young core, bolstered by smart draft picks, makes them a balanced squad. A strong training camp could solidify their place among the NFC’s elite.
  10. Los Angeles Chargers
Jim Harbaugh’s run-heavy approach intensifies with first-round pick Omarion Hampton and veteran Najee Harris. If Justin Herbert stays healthy, the Chargers could climb higher.
  11. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers’ roster is still stacked, but questions linger at quarterback. Their draft focused on trench play, and if Brock Purdy or a new QB steps up, they’re a playoff lock.
  12. Houston Texans
C.J. Stroud’s Texans restocked their receiver room and added an offensive tackle in the draft. But relying on rookies to elevate them past 2024’s success feels risky.
  13. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts added Daniel Jones to compete with Anthony Richardson, whose passing needs work. Free agency upgrades to the secondary help, but their ceiling hinges on QB play.
  14. Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Rodgers, signed for a potential farewell season, brings intrigue. Mike Tomlin’s squad added offensive weapons and defensive depth in the draft. If Rodgers stays healthy, Pittsburgh could surprise.
  15. Minnesota Vikings
J.J. McCarthy, replacing Sam Darnold, steps into a potent offense but faces growing pains after missing his rookie year. Minnesota’s 14 wins in 2024 set a high bar.
  16. Seattle Seahawks
Sam Darnold takes over at QB, paired with new OC Klint Kubiak’s run-heavy scheme. Trading Geno Smith and DK Metcalf was bold, but their O-line and receiver room need work. A strong defense keeps them afloat.
  17. New England Patriots
Mike Vrabel’s defensive overhaul includes Milton Williams and Harold Landry. Draft picks like Will Campbell and TreVeyon Henderson add promise, but QB play remains a question.
  18. Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams’ late-2024 heroics offer hope, but coaching uncertainty and a thin roster loom large. Their draft didn’t move the needle enough.
  19. Carolina Panthers
Bryce Young’s slight improvement isn’t enough to fix a dismal offense and league-worst defense. Drafting Tetairoa McMillan helps, but Carolina’s rebuild is far from over.
  20. New York Jets
New coach Aaron Glenn and OC Tanner Engstrand face an uphill climb. Drafting Armand Membou and Mason Taylor was smart, but poor QB play and coaching missteps haunt this young roster.
  21. Miami Dolphins
Losing Jalen Ramsey hurts, and their offensive and defensive lines are works in progress. Tua Tagovailoa’s health is critical, but Miami’s roster feels middle-of-the-pack.
  22. Atlanta Falcons
The Michael Penix Jr. era begins, but Atlanta’s roster feels transitional. Their draft and free agency moves were modest, and they’re banking on Penix’s upside.
  23. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams’ aging core is thinning, and their draft didn’t address immediate needs. Sean McVay’s play-calling keeps them competitive, but they’re a step behind the NFC’s best.
  24. Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott’s return from injury is huge, and adding George Pickens to pair with CeeDee Lamb boosts their offense. But a shaky defense and no clear RB1 (Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders?) raise concerns.
  25. New York Giants
Russell Wilson and first-round pick Abdul Carter give the Giants hope. Their defense looks solid, but offensive line woes and a thin QB draft class limit their ceiling.
  26. Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow’s talent is undeniable, but injuries and a lackluster defense hold them back. Their draft focused on depth, not game-changers.
  27. Jacksonville Jaguars
New coach Liam Coen and first-round pick Travis Hunter bring excitement, but Trevor Lawrence’s inconsistency is a concern. Jacksonville’s young staff and roster scream potential—but also risk.
  28. New Orleans Saints
Injuries ravaged the Saints in 2024, and their aging roster faces financial woes. Their draft and free agency moves feel like Band-Aids on a sinking ship.
  29. Las Vegas Raiders
Geno Smith’s arrival and first-round pick Ashton Jeanty spark some optimism, but seven QBs in three years signal chaos. Their defense needs a major lift.
  30. Tennessee Titans
Drafting Cam Ward No. 1 overall is a bold bet, but their offense needs more weapons. Free agency O-line upgrades help, but 2025 feels like a rebuilding year.
  31. Cleveland Browns
A crowded QB room (Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders, and injured Deshaun Watson) screams dysfunction. Myles Garrett’s return is their only bright spot.
  32. Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray’s flashes can’t mask a roster gutted by free agency losses. Their draft didn’t address enough holes, leaving Arizona as the league’s weakest team.
